Social Distancing = Productivity

As we were minding our daily lives around two weeks ago, we were unaware of what the future would bring. COVID-19, a strain of the coronavirus, threatened the Eastern hemisphere. The virus spread like wild fire, consuming the entire country of China. Soon after, there were cases in Europe, and eventually, the United States.

At first, we were maintaining our daily lives, while keeping an eye on how the virus developed. Quickly, we learned the seriousness of the virus.

Now officially considered a pandemic by the World Health Organization, a few states began their defense process; work from home, wash your hands and social distance.

Social distancing is something that I didn’t know was an issue for me. I like to keep to myself from time to time, but this felt unreal. I quickly began to fall into bad habits such as watching too much tv, playing games and being lazy. There were somedays where I didn’t even open the curtains.

This weekend, I decided to stop myself from this bad cycle. A sunny Saturday meant I could finally go outside and start setting up my patio garden. Many people don’t know this about me, but I love to garden. It brings me peace, patience and discipline. On Sunday, I cleaned my entire loft and decided to write this blog post.

Before the Pandemic, I never realized that a routine was keeping me from being lazy and watching too much tv. The mindless day-to-day actives kept me productive. I think we take that for granted. Being productive gives me more wholesome happiness than the immediate satisfaction of sitting on the couch and watching tv all day.

What are you doing to keep yourself productive during this quarantine?
